Alphabet Series by Carl-Harry Stålhane

Carl-Harry Stålhane (1920-1990) was a leading Swedish ceramicist who worked for Rörstrand from 1939 to 1973. His "Alphabet" series was a line of production stoneware vessels where each shape was assigned a short letter code rather than a name. These shapes tended towards simple and elegant silhouettes typical of mid-century Scandinavian modernism. Glazes varied considerably across the series, from mottled "hare's fur" glazes to uniform matte and gloss glazes in deep, rich colours. Pieces are usually signed "CHS" along with Rörstrand's mark.
