Collection: Signe Persson-Melin

Signe Persson-Melin (1925-2022) was one of Sweden's most respected ceramic and industrial designers, known for creating functional everyday objects with understated elegance and warmth.

Born in Tomelilla, she studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Stockholm before establishing her own studio in the 1950s. Her work reflected the ideals of Scandinavian modernism: simplicity, practicality and high-quality craftsmanship.

Persson-Melin designed ceramics, glassware, kitchenware and textiles for several major Swedish companies, including Boda, Rörstrand and Höganäs Keramik. She became especially known for durable stoneware tableware and kitchen pieces designed for everyday use, often featuring natural textures and earthy tones.

Her designs balanced rustic character with refined modern forms, making them both practical and timeless. Over a career spanning more than six decades, Persson-Melin became an influential figure in Swedish design and received numerous awards for her contributions to ceramics and applied arts.
