Kaj Franck created the Kilta series in the 1950s as a modern alternative to traditional, elaborate dinner services. The series was later refined and renamed Teema in the 1970s, and production continues to this day. Pieces were designed to be multi-functional; for example, cup saucers had no indentation and could also be used as serving plates.
