Collection: Stig Lindberg

Stig Lindberg (1916-1982) was one of Sweden's most celebrated designers, renowned for his playful and imaginative work in ceramics, textiles and industrial design.

Born in Umeå, Lindberg studied at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm before joining Gustavsberg in the 1930s. He later became the company's artistic director and helped to transform it into a leading name in Scandinavian design.

Lindberg created a wide variety of tableware and decorative ceramics, often characterised by whimsical patterns, organic shapes and bold graphic style. His most famous design is the Berså stylised leaf pattern, which has become one of the most recognised and beloved motifs in Swedish design. He also worked in illustration, producing children's books and textile patterns with the same lively visual language.

Unlike the strict minimalism often associated with Scandinavian modernism, Lindberg's work brought humour, colour and fantasy into everyday objects while remaining highly functional. Today his designs are widely collected and remain iconic examples of mid-century Scandinavian design.
