コレクション: Jens Quistgaard

Jens Harald Quistgaard (1919-2008) was a celebrated Danish designer known for bringing Scandinavian modern design to an international audience. He became especially influential through his long collaboration with Dansk Designs, where he served as chief designer for several decades.

Born in Copenhagen, Quistgaard was trained by his sculptor father and developed skills in metalwork, woodworking and drafting from a young age. His designs combined traditional craftsmanship with modern industrial production, creating objects that were both functional and sculptural.

Quistgaard designed a wide range of household items, including cookware, cutlery, teak accessories, enamelware and serving pieces. Many of his works featured natural materials such as teak, along with organic forms and practical details. His Fjord flatware, Kobenstyle cookware and teak ice buckets became icons of mid-century modern design.

Through Dansk, Quistgaard helped to popularise Danish modern style in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s. His work remains highly collectable and is admired for its warmth, simplicity and enduring usability.
